Has anyone here ever started a work and then stopped?
I find that I do this at times in oils. There's half a painting sitting in my bedroom right now. (It has the background of Puget Sound done immaculate) but, then I stopped. I often look at this piece and wonder why I stopped. I'm doing okay in other areas.... I'm teaching myself how to cartoon, build models, and am studying physics.... but I often wonder why I never finished this. Has anybody else present such behavior, or am I with this alone?

Just wondering.

2. many times.......
or I'll get started on something and decide I don't have the inspiration to see it through and into the recycle it goes! It's just paper.

The paintings I'm most satisfied with started, stopped, started, stopped over and over until for 4 and 5 years later when I "knew" they were done. Mind you, at each prior stage they each had some coherent message that stood on its own and that I hung on my walls, yet I continued exploring, expounding upon, and expressing newfound nuance.
On another hand, that may have all been due to not being able to afford the freedom that lots of canvas, quality paper, paint, brushes and solvent can allow. ;)
