Broke Back Mountain reminded me of an old joke...
there was a crew of Radar Operators on a remote island, every thursday a boat arrived and took them to a nearby small island where there was a herd of sheep, as there were no women close enough to be had for the entirety of there 2 year contract..

a new guy arrives and when asked if he was going to attend the Thursday Nite party.. he indignantly refuses.

this goes on for a couple months, but he finally surcums to temptation and goes to vist the herd with the other dozen or so co-workers.. on the way back he notices the sideways glances and snickers.. he cant contain his rage any more and shouts ..your did it too..!! the group howls with laughter and one guy says.'yea..but you got an ugly one.'

so it looks like maybe those Ewe Boys were just a little gayer than they wanted to admit.

a Basque guy i new showed me his traditional Basque sheep herding outfit..I was making shoes then and he had the tall boot that were really wide at the top, i asked him if they didnt get a lot of crap in those boots with the tops so wide. he replied they were wide like that so you could put the hind legs of the ewe's in the so they couldnt get away..
