This taken from a letter to the Readers' Page of the Scottish Sunday Post:
I was in town with my husband enjoying a bit of window shopping when I stopped at a very exclusive ladies' clothes shop.
They had the most beautiful dress in the window - but the price made me gasp.
"Oh well, I can dream", I thought - and I did. As I became lost in my thoughts, it was obvious my husband was getting bored and keen to get going.
However, it didn't stop me imagining myself as the centre of attention, wearing the dress at some grand function.
As I daydreamed about being the belle of the ball, I linked arms with my husband and whispered, "Darling, if you buy me that dress, I'll give you a night of love you'll never forget."
But it wasn't my hubby at all! And I'll never forget the look of astonishment on the face of this poor embarrassed and bewildered stranger!
My husband was yards down the road by now - and totally oblivious to what I was up to!"
