current clarification.

For a long time, it was common to hear the claim that the government is paying farmers not to plant/farm. I'm looking for information on the current state of farm subsidies .. what exactly is the current status of farming subsidies?

Thanks for any help .. btw .. interested in this information for a class I'm taking .. current topic/book is about the populist agrarian revolt (The Populist Moment, Goodwyn)

3. Here's another one, slightly off-track, but so's the loophole

A tax law intended to help small farmers and construction companies buy tractors and fork-lifts was expanded, to include vehicles above a certain gross weight (? I think), that are useful for hauling.

But now, any self-employed yutz with the money to pay for one, can write off the cost of a Hummer.
This link is a little dated, and I'm positive the law's changed more recently, but it's still worth checking into.
