Helping to ween a relative from Fox News...
Okay, so it's a rather delicate situation. My Mother-in-Law (I know, right? Yikes!) is a Fox News addict. I mean, she's HEAVILY indoctrinated into this crap, like to the point that she repeats things without even comprehending what she is saying. It absolutely infuriates me, but I have always held my tongue.

One time I heard her once say something about "those liberal professors" who are "brainwashing students" and other such nonsense. It struck me as absurd considering this is an educated woman who was formerly a teacher herself! Anyways, my husband tells me that it's on all the time at her house, (except when I'm there, of course) and even in the background when she's doing housework. Sadly, she is very much a hermit and I suspect this contributes to the construction of her "paranoid" (Thank you, Bush Co.!) personality and frighteningly black-and-white worldview.

Are there any websites/video I might introduce to her to slowly ween her off the steady diet of Faux News crapola?? I'm trying to keep it politically neutral, if that's possible, as we are obviously on the opposite sides of the political spectrum in this.

1. Sadly, I think not
Any debunking source you refer her to will be labeled as liberal media. The only things you can do are 1) be grateful she turns it off while you're around and 2) if she cites any of their talking points, challenge. For example, the professor reference above...ask her who she knows that has been brainwashed. Usually they can't give examples. If she's smart, she may start to question Faux on her own.

2. Try Media Matters
But don't just refer her there. Here's the link:

http://mediamatters.org/

Look through the site to find some of the most blatant Faux Noise sins that have been recently committed. It would be best to offer proof of transgressions in other rightwing media because it will be harder for her to reject it. Many times Media Matters provides links to just such information.

4. What you need to do is show her "Outfoxed..."
I still have fantasies about showing this to my own mother, who also watches O'Reilly, Hannity, etc., and believes every word that they say. *sigh* And my mother's an educated woman, as well, so should know better. My mother has had health issues, hip replacement surgery recently, so she doesn't get out much, either. But she won't listen to me, thinks I'm brainwashed x(, so I'll have to rely on an independent source. :-(
