Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
I picked up the Disney release of Nausicaa this weekend. Great movie. One difference that I saw between the original and the Disney version is that the Japanese version refers to the Sea of Decay as the source of the poisons and the Disney version calls it the Toxic Jungle.

The disk has a couple special features which are nice. The first is a history of Studio Ghibli that originally aired on Japanese television. It's a little out of date but it has a lot of good information about Myazaki and Studio Ghibli.

The second is the complete movie in original storyboards. It's really fun to watch the movie in storyboards. It gives you insight into the development process.

Finally, the disk includes original Japanese trailers for the film.

I do have a question about the new releases of Studio Ghibli. Does anyone know anything about The Cat Returns? I can't find any info and I just found out this weekend that it's a relatively new release (2002?).

1. Thanks for the review!
I have my copy on order. I've been kinda nervous. I don't like most Disney Dubs. I thought they really hurt Laputa with the orchestral score. Does the Naussica use the original score? How's the dub?

Thanks again

2. I never saw the original so I can't compare it
But I thought it was pretty well done. The score was interesting. Kind of almost a techno feel to it. Joe Hisaichi is credited so I suspect it may be the original score.
