Kitchen cabinet shelf

Heard this loud clang this afternoon and looked all over and couldn't find anything that fell. Well just went to make dinner and found the source. The shelf inside the corner cabinet in the kitchen fell. Found an extra little plastic holder and it cracked as soon as I put it in. I wanted to put in an extra shelf on top after we moved in here and looked at Home Depot and Lowe's for the shelf holders but they didn't fit. Any ideas of how to get my shelf back up? The cabinets are about 12yrs old, were here when we bought the house so I have no idea where to look for them. Would a piece of a dowel work or would that crack right away since it's so thin? Is there a souce for these little things?

I'd need to know more about the kind that are there now to know what will work as a replacement.

Also need to know why it fell. It could be that the little bracket broke, but if it is the kind that fits into a small hole in the cabinet body, then maybe the hole got too big and that's why it fell.

To answer your dowel question, yes a dowel will work. It is plenty strong enough to hold a kitchen cabinet shelf. But, depending on the exact type of bracket, it may not work perfectly. It could make one corner of the shelf just a tad higher than the others and the shelf will wobble.

Or not ..... it all comes back to the exact type of braket you have.

It looks like two things, the pottery barn bowls were heavy and the plastic was sort of rigid on the little bracket. The metal ones would seem to be made to last longer than these. And yes the holes look bigger now maybe from the shelf falling out. The cabinet door is glass so guess I am lucky it fell in place and nothing broke.
