Anyone know where I can get resin so I can make my own paperweights?

3. You can find resin at Michael's craft stores...

but, clip and use the 40% off coupon that comes with the Sunday paper. Dick Blick probably carries it as well, although my guess is that it would be considerably more expensive.

ALSO, check the label for health warnings. I suspect that you may need a respirator to safely use resins (as well as a place outside of your living area to let it cure). Respirators are available at Menards, etc. and are handy to have for any number of art or home improvement projects. Please take the health warnings seriously!

4. Try Smooth-On

Most of their product is urethane, which means you get to go outside to make your paperweights. That toluene diisocyanate will kill you if you're not careful.

I want some of their Smash! resin. It's used to make breakaway bottles and windowpanes...I have NEVER seen a technical data sheet that contains a warning like this: "If you intend to smash the cast object over somebody's head, be sure the casting walls are less than 1/8" in thickness and the object has cured for at least 16 hours or serious injury may result."
