Papering my office!!
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 02:35 PM by politicat
The houseguest finally got her butt out, and DH now has his office, so I can have mine back and finish it!! Yay!

The floors are stained mahogany, and my furniture is cherry and walnut. I've had a very simple office until now, so I'm decorating in a Regency-Federalist look. My furniture consists of a tiny rolltop writing desk ( just right for a laptop), a rolling laptop desk, a dictionary stand, a trunk, a set of bookcases, an office chair, and a tiny little settee from an auction. I've got my eye on a chaise lounge, but I have to sell another something before I can have it.

Here are the papers: The solid one is a moire finish, and will go on the walls with the slanted ceilings, and the stripey one goes on the flat ceiling walls.

Edited for clearer picture: - sorry about the flash glare - That room is easy to light in the afternoons, but hideous in the mornings.

I'm still not entirely sure about the border, but it would be the last thing up, anyway.

1. I love moire
I have it in my own own office in the cove where my credenza sits .... with my desktop monitor and keyboard. My laptop sits on the side of that at a 90° angle to the credenza. My moire is a darkish green and I find it a restful color The remained of the office is a celery green with white high gloss trim. There's a very busy red oriental on the floor.

Your choice of colors in the red family is a good one. Its invigorating. Since I tend to be a pretty invigorated type to begin with, the green helps as it tends to be a calming color.

Ya gotta post pictures when its done.

2. No more green in this house....
It was, when we moved in, done entirely in green - green carpets, countertops, window treatments.... It was too calming. It made me feel like I was underwater and I had to really push to be motivated.

So now we're redoing the house (slowly) with lots of greys, reds, black, white and silver.

When I get the paper up and the furniture arranged and the floorcloth finished and and and.... Probably the end of the week.
