Well ...... I found the reason and solved this extraordinarily vexing problem ...... for free.

A few months back I replaced the faucet aerators on our main and summer kitchen faucets. With units like this one:



Over the last week or two, water flow has been uneven, ranging from a weak flow to a trickle. I could not for the life of me figure the problem out. Many of you suggested various things, and for that I thank you, one and all.

Well, tonight I was rinsing out a big pot and the water was a trickle again. It was really getting to me. So I pulled down on the aerator to swtich from stream to spray, hoping that the spray would at least have more force, if not volume.

Lo and behold ...... water .... with pressure.

I pushed up on the aerator to go back to solid stream.

Just a trickle again. I pushed harder.

Eureka!

Water.

With its old pressure back.

I checked the summer kitchen.

Ditto.

I wasn't fully switching the goddammed aerator.

And so I am now the self-declared "Dummy of DU Home Improvements" and, for this week, also the "World's Biggest Dummy".

For this I get the Fred Sanford Award.

1. well at least both our plumbing "problems" were a no cost fix

you're cheaper then mine, as I have to repair some drywall but still an cheap easy fix

The faucet aerator screens get jammed up with calcium deposits from the well water all the time around here. I'm glad you found your problem.

Look for the easy reason for the problem first. I'm so glad that your faucet problem was one of those easy fixes, Husb. And think of it this way - You just may be helping someone around here in advance!
