If you hadn't figured it out already, I'm a contrarian - Electronica and late medieval folk music, Jane Austen and Neal Stephenson, huge canvases and tiny "pewter" gaming miniatures. My third painting project of the week (the steamer trunks being #2 and not going well...) was to get minis done for a convention. (Getting on meds for my anxiety has done me a world of good when it comes to motivation, creativity and concentration. Still on medical leave, but if I can keep this level of functionality for another month or two, I think I can go back to work at least part time.)

25 mm miniatures are about 2 inches tall, molded of a soft metal something like pewter, but lead free. They can be painted with acrylics, Testor model paints, or specialty oils sold just for them. We prime ours with specialty primer and then paint them with Testor paints. We also mount them on 1 inch plastic squares with JB Quick Weld.

Eyes are the hardest part, and I'm not an expert, but this one's eyes turned out pretty well. She's a halfling (Dungeons and Dragons fans will know what I'm talking about; otherwise, think Hobbit) and is actually only 18 mm tall without her base, so she was a bit more of a challenge than most.

1. my! let me guess, your paintbrush has like two bristles in it right?

when I did the horse for my stepmom, i cut down a brush to about 4 bristles for the eyes. and you're right, the eyes are the hardest!

2. Something like that....
Tiny little brushes with huge handles so there's lots of fine control. (When I ask for brushes for presents, it drives my mother crazy because she can't understand why 6 sable hairs and a padded handle cost $14.)
