Lowe's is doing inventory....
In other words, if there's something you have been thinking about getting, now is the time to go get it.

I found a ceiling fan for the bedroom for $12 (which means I can afford to have the electrician come in and wire a box in the ceiling) and a 10x7.5 foot carpet (originally one of their $400 jobbies) for eleven dollars.

Yes. $11. I was shocked, too.

2. Not yet up here, though they did have tomato seeds.
But I still have the heritage collection from my great-grandfather, so I'm going to try to get 'em to grow from seed again this year. I've got a heat mat for them and better light, and I don't have to go away for six weeks this year!

8. Go at the end of the planting season
and you can buy lots of marked-down vegetables and flowers for half price. Usually all they need is a little extra TLC.
Last year I bought a number of small rhododendrons in 6-inch pots at Lowes for less than $2 each in June. They're all doing well.

3. I wish they'd open up in this town
but all we get are the circulars for the one 250 miles away. All we have here is Home Fucking Depot, which has driven all the hardware stores, lumber yards, and other places out of business.

6. I'm sorry, Warpy.
We are kind of in the same boat. There is one lumberyard left that's open to the public (and one that's contractors only) but it doesn't carry things like garden supplies and lighting, and the small stores that do carry that thing are a drib here and a drab there.

I feel about home despot the way some people feel about Walmart - it'll be a cold day in hell.

5. Well.... chains have their accounting centralized, and both of the
stores in the area are in the process of doing so. It seems they generally do these things all at the same time, but I can't say for certain that they are. It's worth a check, though....

12. I called the Lowe's nearest our house today...
and asked if they were having an inventory sale. The lady laughed, and said they are having one, but its so picked over! Its apparently been going on since the beginning of February!! She said the stuff will be there until they finish reworking the store.

11. I was at one in MD late last night
I did not notice any sales, but they were doing some major restocking.

7. I will go over and look for a ventilation fan for my bathroom
renovation job. Do the big ticket items go on sale as well? If so, maybe I will get a toilet and a bathtub, too!

9. Yes - we bought our washer and dryer and dishwasher for the little house
there on sale: I paid 1000 for the three of them, and the washer was a front loading high end one. (Unfortunately, it is now a pile of slag thanks to the house fire, so I can't tell you which one it was.)

My sister got a new toilet, pedestal sink and shower insert yesterday in Illinois (after I told her to go check it out) for $188. (She was so proud of herself.)
