Thomasville kitchen cabinets and drawer closers.
I recently remodelled my kitchen and put in new Thomasville cabinets. While 'kicking the tires' on cabinets, I saw a nifty feature that self closes drawers. I decided to treat myself to this feature and ordered one for my silverware drawer for $38.00.

After using the new kitchen for two weeks, I said "I gotta get this for my other drawers." So I called those lovely folks at Home Depot (sorry for shopping red) and asked how much per drawer is that gonna cost? The answer: $91.00 per drawer. Ouch.

So I took the mechanism out to get some part numbers to google. It took me about 1/2 hour to find out the suckers I was looking for were called Blumotion. A little more googling found the self closers for $5.10 a pair. Add a pair of triggers for $0.09 each & you're good to go. (It took me about 15 minutes to install the closers on five drawers - no tools required.)

There's two different types of Tandem slides (562 or 568/566), so make sure you know what type of slides you have. You can take out the screw at the front frame of the cabinet & the slide will pop out in your hand. The slide number is printed somewhere on the slide - I have 562s.

The moral of this story: If your cabinet hardware uses Tandem slides, order these things and treat youself to a really nice feature for short money.

3. Thank you for sharing that information...
Mr. LD and I want to redo our kitchen at some point, and I want to include these very sliders. Thank you for sharing the information on where to get them.

I'd love to see pictures of your new kitchen! Thomasville cabinets are very nice-- I've seen them at Home Depot, and drooled!!

I still need to figure out what I'm going to do with the blind - will probably go with a 2" wooden blind. I also need to lay down some light maple laminate flooring.

7. I had looked at Roman blinds,
but I'm kinda leaning towards a wood blind. Something like this blind:

comes in a variety of options:

I'm going to hold off making any decision until after the floor is down.

12. Roman shades are a little easier to keep clean
I find blinds to be dust catchers of the first magnitude. I had little alternative in my own kitchen due to a weird window configuration, but I've replaced them throughout the rest of this house.

Your new kitchen is beautiful. It's given me something to aim for in my own.

10. I actually looked at woven shades for my kitchen.
But when I called about them, the service rep said there was no way to wash them. Over the sink there is bound to be some splashing, so I need a plan B. The wood slate are easy to wipe down, so they are a good option. Also, washable cotton curtains would work.

8. Thank you.
No, I didn't do it myself - I only did the demolition. My son and a helper put the whole thing together in about seven hours. It was an amazing thing to watch.

9. I actually like the floor.
But I am partial to checkerboard pattern. But the color matches the cabinets.

13. That is a definite improvement!
It looks beautiful! I like that style of door. I'm looking for something like them or maybe with a beadboard panel.

Great job!
