I finally took the first step!
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 05:43 AM by fudge stripe cookays
So I painted and re-did most of our place right after we moved in. The master bedroom and bathroom have been the exception.

The master bathroom has this incredibly ugly cocoa brown tile that I have HATED since we moved in. Plus stock vanities, stock plumbing, and the shower has had a small leak, so we have not used it since we moved in-- we've been using the guest bath instead. And it also has those hideous stock 80s light fixtures-- you know, the brassy cheap gold kind?

I was going to do this as sort of a three in one deal. Renovate the bathroom, paint the bedroom, and re-do the inside of my long bank of closets (with sliding doors). I have bought several of those "California Closets" components at Target, and was just waiting for the right moment. Well, our lavatory in the master bath had some problems a few weeks ago, and appears to have developed a leak. Fortunately, neighbor Steve is a plumber and can help us there. Seemed like the right time to get my butt in gear. He already showed reprehensor how to put in a new seal for the potty in the guest bath several years ago.

Last night, I took crowbar and power tools to the huge long shelf and shelf supports in the closet, and after leaving several huge holes, I spackled over them. Now, I'll sand everything down nicely and paint the inside of the closet, which is covered in bump marks.

We have a huge window in the bathroom. Tomorrow I'm ordering a big poufy shade from Smith and Noble, and we'll be calling a renovation company or 2 to give estimates. I've already bought three new lighting fixtures, and yesterday I found some new faucets for the sinks that I like.

When we get the shade I'll be able to pick out the right paint color that will harmonize with the fabric, and we'll also be able to pick out the new tile.

IT HAS BEGUN!

I didn't even think until after I was done last night that I should have taken pictures of hte closet in its nasty before state. Oh well...

Wish me luck!

2. Definitely will.
I already owe you pix of the last bathroom! But we had a stray chihuahua living there for the last several weeks.

Just found him a new home last Sunday, so I need to do some polishing first, then take some nice pix of the after. The before is floating around on my computer somewhere.

And everyone needs to see the wonders I performed on my kitchen with only some paint, new knobs, and a new light fixture.

I'll cough some up soon. Promise. :D
