We are making progress on our new floor (pics)
I posted back in December about installing our new floor and DUers were very generous and helpful with their advice. We worked our fannies off to get the living and dining room done in time to get a tree up for Christmas and finished just in the nick of time. We got the tree up on Christmas Eve! (Not me....I collapsed onto the couch and our six-year-old did the decorating.)

I used my old camera for these so my pics aren't very good but I thought I'd go ahead and post them since I promised I would a while back. I got a new camera for Christmas and we still have the rest of the house to go, so the next pics will be better, I promise. Meanwhile, here's what I have: This is the dining area. I forgot to take the "before" pic until midway through the process but you can see the old carpeting (circa 1983!) in the forefront. The pic is too kind...it's frayed and faded and I am SO glad to have new flooring going in!! :bounce:

And here it is, finished! (At least these rooms) My daughter got her tree and everyone is happy.

We start the rest of the house tomorrow....stay tuned!

5. I don't want to go in the other rooms!
:) It feels so ......clean. That ratty carpeting still felt grungy no matter how much I steam-vac'd it.

4. Laminate
I would have loved to install real hardwood floors, but that was not in our budget and we desperately needed to replace all the flooring in the house.

But I'm very happy with the results, thanks!

7. Congratulations - it looks great!
We have a very similar laminate pattern in our home, too.

I love how easy it is to keep clean. Instead of dealing with the big vacuum cleaner, I use a mini vac with a long handle to go around the edges of the rooms as needed. And then I use the Bona-X product to spritz and wipe the flooring with a cotton terry mop thing. It's a snap and almost fun. What's so great is how you see the dust bunnies right away. Furniture is easier to move around to get to all the corners of a room. I feel like my house is cleaner now that the wall to wall carpeting is gone.

Yes, wood is lovely. But we're on a concrete slab. At the time we remodeled we couldn't get wood that went over concrete. Now, I don't even care. The laminate is easy maintenance and comfortable under foot.

Your daughter is a cutie!
