Well, actually over $700, as we had a $170 store credit from returning some bathroom fixtures that I needed to exchange. But still!

reprehensor and I are still trying to get to Canada, so weve been fixing up the place to sell.

1. dang fudgie! but I can attest it takes money to make money on selling your house
I did the whole "Design to Sell" thing last summer and it worked like a charm, we got top $$$ and sold the first weekend :bounce:

good luck! :hi:

2. Thanks!
I know reprehensor was grouchy at the amount, but much of it was paint, and then there was the "jewelry". I'm replacing all the cheesy 80s fake "gold" doorknobs with pretty brushed nickel, we got a new kitchen faucet, and a couple of other small things like painting accessories. We already replaced all the lighting fixtures and the cheesy 80s ceiling fan in the living room. It looks SO much better.

And I did manage to sub out the bathroom fixtures that we replaced (of course, the ones we found were more expensive...)

As soon as we get the bathroom renovated, I'm concentrating on the curb appeal. Our driveway looks terrible, so we're having one repoured, and ripping out the bushes in the front along with the sidewalk, to put in a curved path, and plant fragrant pretty herbs and small tufty sorts of plants (lambs ears) in the new bed that will be created. Plus I have some gorgeous pots we can plant with some seasonal annuals and sweet potato vines to dress things up a bit.

I'm debating hiring painters for thhe exterior. Anybody else painted their own place with a rented sprayer?

with a big Wagner airless

we found the "oops" paint store, bought a bunch of different light colors (13 gallons for $60)and mixed them all together and got a nice "Realtor Beige" and he did the whole house in two days. we didn't tape anything, he just held up cardboard along the edges and I came behind and cleaned the overspray (I had to wash the windows anyway right?)

Don't know if you can do it that way with the air sprayers though....

edit to add a link, if you search in April and May of 2006 I started several threads on the "Design to Sell" saga

4. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
I'll consider it.

I used to be capable of so much more before I got sick.

Now, we'll DEFINITELY have to do it before it gets too hot, and I know reprehensor won't exactly be enthusiastic about helping, but it SURE would be cheaper. It's hard for me to plan on anything, because I can never tell when I'll start feeling crummy.

9. I tried shooting latex topcoat with a handheld Wagner
Latex is thick and it spit the paint on badly despite me buying a new nozzle and fussing with it. I gave up and rolled it. 1200 sq ft ranch.

5. I'm helping my neighbor add a bath and remodel another.....
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 04:36 PM by Kingshakabobo
It's so much more fun going to spend OTHER people's money. On our last trip she dropped $1000 dollars on tile and floor heaters..

Speaking of floor heaters...have you looked in to them if you haven't gone that far and/or are re-tiling? I wish I had done it in my first bath. We're doing them in my new bath(the one we're adding on top of the neighbor's - we're in a condo - common plumbing)

edit to add: just remembered you are fixing up to sell. Might not be the best return on your money.....@ about 200 bucks

6. If we were in Canada, hell YEAH!
But since we're in Texas, we'd only use it one month out of the year.

Radiant floor heat DOES rock. We had it at a hotel in Toronto a few years ago, and it was WONDERFUL.
