Our new coffee maker - Cuisinart Brew Central (DCC-1200)

We're liking it a lot so far. It makes a hotter cup of coffee. For small batches of 1 to 4 cups, you can press a button that makes the heating element hotter. It works well. It can be set to keep the coffee hot for up to 4 hours. And the hot plate can be set to low, medium or high heat. It has a charcoal water filter insert.

I don't know if it's the cone filters that help make a better tasting cup of coffee or the fact that it sprays water over the grounds - but the coffee I made this afternoon in this new pot tasted better than my morning coffee. It was smoother.

It also has an indicator light that goes on when you need to decalcify it with the self clean mode.

The only thing I find awkward is that there isn't a side window to see how much water is in it. There's an easy enough indicator on the inside but I miss the window. And the opening where you pour the water in is narrow compared to the wide jaw of the Mr. Coffee. I can live with that, too.

1. It sure is pretty!
I got Mr. Longhorn a Cuisinear combination grinder/coffeemaker a year ago and he really likes it. I don't drink coffee so I'm no judge but it sure smells good! (I'm one of those who takes a little coffee with my cream and sugar. ;) )

4. I'm glad to hear it works well for him
I looked at that model but hubby sleeps in even later than I do. I figured he would grumble about the sound. But I really, really want one of them! Fresh coffee every pot - yum!

5. I didn't even notice since I just got through talking about dishwashers!

6. I have that one!
It's really good, same complaints too about the lack of the window on the side. Been in use for 4yrs now and still making a good pot of coffee. I think the filtered water thingy helps too.

8. And it gets use
we are all big coffee drinkers. Yeah, Mr. Coffee makes it about 2yrs before it gives up so even though this was more expensive it did pay for itself.

9. A friend suggested this one for us
She got the 14 cup model as they're huge coffee drinkers in her house. Their last machine was a Bunn connected to the water supply. Despite the convenience of the Bunn, she said that she thought this Cuis made a better tasting cup of coffee.
