Ceiling fan installation; pre-wired and supported; can we do it ourselves?

The house is pre-wired and the supports are already there with the cover.

Hubby and I are absolute virgins at this sort of thing, though. I do know how to turn off the electricity at least! Pretty keen with a screwdriver when it's necessary too.

It's my understanding that it's very, very easy but I'm aware of our limits. Should we even try?

The main problem is that the suckers are so heavy.

2. Mr. B can press quite a bit, so I think he and a buddy can handle it.

When I heard what Home Depot charged for installation, when everything was already ready for them, it just seemed excessive.

4. Yep, that was our problem.

But it was worth it to us to get that hidsous 80s brassy gold out of here and get a nice blonde wood one with brushed nickel hardware.

SO much nicer.

You can do it! :D If you support the fan standing on a step ladder, mr. blonde can do most of the hard work.

Yes, it was a pain in the butt. No, it was not something I'd ever call an electrician for.

3. Getting the anchors in the right way is the hard part .....

Since that's already done, it should be easy.

Tip: Hang the motor and wire and test it. Install the blades as the very last step. The motor's a LOT easier to handle without the blades. If for some reason you have to take it down, that part is easier with the blades off, too.
