Somebody stop me!
Edited on Thu Feb-01-07 06:04 AM by fudge stripe cookays
I can't stop organizing!

Now, some of you guys know that reprehensor and I are doing some make-ready on our place to try to sell it in the next couple of months. And I watch a LOT of "Designed to Sell" and such. My linen closet was formerly jammed full of unfolded linen, phone books, Halloween party items, and old computer parts.

Keeping in mind the "staging" aspect, I did THIS last weekend:

Whaddya think? First I painted it since it was all beaten to hell inside, then I got to work. I looked everywhere for the little metal label holders, and finally found them at the scrapbook store. They were light blue, but I spray painted them silver. And it takes a VERY DELICATE touch with the little teeny tacks they give you for attaching. I used a scrapbook hammer to pound them in!

Now, if I get nosy potential homebuyers....look out!

1. looks wonderful and will pay off in a quicker sale for sure
you have them staged to look like there is TONS of storage in there

I too, ended up painting my linen closet presale :bounce:

by the time my house was staged, our shed out back (12x15) was packed and ready to go. the final packing took no time at all to move

Nice to know I'm not the only one who paints her linen closet! reprehensor was rolling his eyes. but it does look much more finished!

We're going to have to begin putting some boxes of stuff in the garage until we find a better place for it, but I've cleaned out quite a bit, we're having a yard sale in another month or two, and we're going to need to paint the garage too. Walls AND floor. The walls are really beaten up, and the Baptist preacher and his family who lived here before us stuck a bible verse bumper sticker on the wall out there, which needs to be gotten rid of. :eyes: Think I'll go for more of a vanilla this time than the ICE COLD white that was out there before. Too harsh.

I love everyone on here who told me about the oil-based Kilz. It really did the job in our bedroom. I'll need to use it on the driveway too, I think, to cover up all the paint stains from my Halloween party preparations.

Once we're done priming in the bedroom, painting should begin this weekend.

And the bathroom demolition FINALLY starts next Thursday, thanks to DU's own LiberalUprising! (hi Bob!) :bounce:

If I could pick any career, I think it would be "Professional Creative Diva."

Martha would be quaking in her boots, I tell ya!

5. Ok, that's inspiring...
Wow. You not only see these ideas on HGTV, you DO them.
That really looks amazing!

I watch way too much HGTV, and I swear, I spend half of my life
in HGTV fantasy land---imagining how I'll paint this room and
re-do that closet, etc. You're light years ahead of me!

I think your closet is so amazing. You are so resourceful...spraypainting
those labels sliver and painting the closet. It looks so nice.

Good luck with selling your home. It's a lot of work, isn't it? We
moved almost two years ago. Your hard work and creativity will
certainly pay off.

Great job!

6. Thanks!
In all fairness, I started college as an interior design major. I love working with colors and styles and accessories.

I love Design on a Dime... and Designed to Sell. I can't help it! When I see a great idea, I try to duplicate it for everyday home use!

:hi:
