Concrete stain for a patio slab--or other ideas to cover the concrete? Advice, please?
We're having a pool built and I'm considering extending the Kool-Deck to the patio, but the patio is pretty small and I'd like something with a bit more "oomph."

I'm thinking concrete stain--I love the look--but I'm thinking it might be way too hot for bare feet (I'm in Phoenix). Temperature is a BIG factor here, even Kool Decking gets uncomfortable out here. Durability is also a huge factor.

Basically the patio will be just an outdoor dining area; there'll be a sizable shaded deck by the pool, so I'd like to have a nicer finish than the Kool-Deck, although practicality is the first criteria.

Any ideas are very appreciated!

1. Maybe some outdoor-rated floor tiles for a border or accent
I have heard that concrete with colored aggregate is a bit stronger than concrete with dye in it. That is how I recall it. Better look for yourself.

2. I used to buy big hunks of indoor/outdoor carpet off the rolls at Lowe's
it was cheap enough to replace every few years when it got ratty looking, but was cool to the feetsies and low maintenance. and since it's so cheap, you can change out the color if you want to give your patio a new look. I used decorative rocks or planters to hold down the corners when the winds came through in August and it worked fine
