what is a reasonable price for a survey?
we need a survey for our remodeling. i got a quote of $650, with another hundred to stake the corners, which we don't need.
the cost of living in general around here is high, and anything related to real estate is bound to be up there. it doesn't seem crazy high to me, but maybe kinda steep. don't really want to be a sucker on the first thing we do here.

1. We just paid $325 for a survey.
The survey was required by the title co. for purchase of the property. The surveyor was a friend of ours, but I don't think he gave us a reduction in rate, as the fee at closing higher than the first survey he did for us on a different property a few years ago. The property was pretty easy to survey, no significant land forms, not heavily wooded. Just another 40 year old subdivision.

To the best of my knowledge, we weren't charged extra for the stakes.

We're in Austin, TX.

3. I'm near Wrigley. Our association just paid $500 for a survey arraigned by the builder.
I thought that was a little high. I checked with a real-estate attorney I do business with and he said around $450 so I let it alone.

We used Preferred Survey in Bridgeview. I can get their contact info if you like.
