Anyone have a "whole house fan"?
Could a person who is somewhat handy with things install one on their own?

2. Installation can be done by a handy person
It involves electrical (maybe a new circuit .... depends on the fan and your house ...... and control wiring to at least a switch if not also a thermostat) and carpentry (need to mount the fan and to maybe add louvers where none exists)

None of this is hard ..... but you have some level of skill.

3. absolutely - I have done it
a little basic carpentery and basic electrical work . . . not difficult at all - as long as your proposed opening is nice and clear - that is, between two studs.

4. For code purposes, a whole house fan can be as simple as a 24 hr timer on your bathroom fan. n/t

5. Are you talking about an attic exhaust fan?
We have one of those and you have to know how to wire it up if you don't have the electricity handy.
