Fountain - DONE!!!! Huzzah!!!
Edited on Sun Sep-23-07 08:53 PM by GoneOffShore
Some of you have seen the earlier photos of my fountain project - here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=287x5464

Well, today, it's done. Tiles set, grouted, cleaned. I'm not posting pics of it running because the grout is still setting and I'm going to give it a couple of days.
But here it is - just in time for autumn. When it was running into the concrete basin before I tiled it, Mrs GoS fell asleep listening to the water run. (It's a recirculating pump). The sound completely masks the traffic sounds from the street. Now I have to think about winterizing it. Though that's really simple, I think.

I was going to leave the basin terra cotta, but I had so much grout left over that I just smeared it on the outside walls. I'm not sure about cleaning the thinset off the bricks.

1. I really like wall fountains
Your installation looks great. What's going on over on the left? I mean the aqua. It looks permanent.

2. Ah, I'll post some pictures of that soon
It's a sculpture on the wall

I've decided that I have to add some more tiles because the splash back from the fountain soaks the bricks and it's a party wall.

More pictures next week.

3. It looks great!
but you could spend the next 10 years trying to get the thinset off, if it bonded like it was supposed to.
I suggest a row of 3 inch tiles all the way around, that will cover most of it.
