I've come to the conclusion that for me and my spouse, a living room is a waste of space. We never sit in one and converse, watch TV or even have guests. We just dine, surf the Internet, garden, and sleep. If we do have guests, it's outdoors.
I live in an old carriage house that was converted to a house about 50 years ago, thus the living room is huge. On each end of the carriage house is a wing, one with the kitchen and DR, the other with the bedroom and bath. There's a second floor that basically repeats this pattern, just with bedrooms in the wings. We don't use the second floor, however.
So here's my quandary. I want to set my living room up with three or four different computer systems. No desks, just a monitor and computer by a comfy recliner (the type that doesn't look like a recliner). Then I want to put an HDTV screen over the fireplace mantle.
Of the four systems, two would be Windows, one Mac and one Linux. Not that that matters to interior design. :)
I'm not planning on selling anytime soon, so resale is not an issue.
The question is how I should arrange the chairs/computers. One in each corner? In a semi-circle? Facing the fireplace? Any ideas?
I like my idea but I'm not excited about any floor arrangements so far.
