Anyone built an outdoor brick oven?
I've been searching around and there are a lot of links our there for outdoor bread and pizza ovens.

I'm up for the project so i can bake bread, pizza and tarte flambée. Plus there's that whole yogurt making thing and roasting turkeys for the whole neighborhood.

Has anyone here built their own bake oven? Not gas fired, mind you. The real deal.

I expect to have it up and running by Labour Day.

3. I was poised to do this very thing, but life and a heart attack intervened.
We were going to build it ourselves, but I had a heart attack in January. Since then, we've become consumed in a (now nearly completed) house renovation on a rental property we own.

I'm thinking maybe next summer.

There are ***many*** sites on the internet that cover the gamut of oven styles, use, construction, pros and cons of one oven over another, etc. etc.

There is also a DUer who built several of them. Here's a link to an archived thread with her reply (Willy Lee). I really don't think she's posted here in years.

4. More DU thread links
Here's another thread with a short oven discussion in it. Also some good links in this thread:

5. I really do appreciate the links

I think that doing this project will keep me sane over the summer as the election year wears on.

Nothing like some good manual labor to work out the frustrations.

And sorry about the heart attack. I remember when it happened. How are you doing now?

6. I'm actually doing very well
I feel better than I've felt in years and years. I quit smoking, I go to the gym, and I eat a lot healthier. I'm no saint, and I cheat on stuff (mostly diet stuff), but overall, I'm way better off than I was. I actually feel MORE able to do the oven than I did before the heart attack.

8. Let's talk in the early Spring
Its possible.

By the way, do you have plans?

I'm going to do the Pompeii oven. I drew up my own plans for one.
