anyone here use a steam cleaner?

I bought it and haven't tried it yet. What have you used it for? in the video I found they use it on everything! I have to leave soon, but I'll check back in later. :hi:

1. I have 2, and I use them all of the time.

One is a Shark Euro Pro Steam blaster that has lots of attachments. I use it to clean the grease from under the range hood, the toilets under the rim, and any gunk.

I also just bought that Shark steam mop.

The best part is that you can clean without any chemicals....but you do need to get microfiber cloths. As you steam, you need to wipe to get the junk off. You can get microfiber cloths for cheap at Samsclub or at a dollar store.

2. I'm About To Buy One.

Quite literally, I was about to buy a steam cleaner late this afternoon, but ran out of time. I was looking at a different brand, can't remember the name; it's a little cheaper. I'm now wondering if I should go with the Shark Euro Pro.

Anybody else have any ideas.

4. I've just done some research on the net. Some customer reviews

on various sites are not that enthused about this product. Now I'm confused. I don't know what to believe.

6. About 50/50 that like it or don't like it. Complaints are that it doesn't

deliver as promised; (others say it's wonderful); also, too much of a hassle because attachments don't work right, or because too much post-use maintenance. Things like that. Comments vary from "piece of junk" to "awesome."

Hard to figure.

7. What do you want to use it for?

I tried to use it to clean soap scum in the shower - it wasn't worth it.

I use it for grease, gunk, and floors.
The most important thing I found is that you have to have a bunch of microfiber clothes handy.
When you are steaming off gunk, you need to hurry and wipe it off. It can be a hassle at times - but - to me I would rather steam off the gunk than use alot of chemicals to scrub it off.

8. Tonight I got a Lysol/Conair Multipurpose Steam Cleaning System.

Tried it out. Pretty good steam and cleaning. Good, so far, for gunk. It seems like it is steam disinfecting things. Who knows for sure, but it seems that way. I'll report back in the next day or so. Got it at Linens N'Things for 20% (coupon) $29.95.

9. they are awesome for bird poop.

i have a floor one, that i use on the ceramic tile floors in the bird room aka the laundry room. it just melts it, especially if you soak it a little with a vinegar and water solution. boom!

10. I have a Scunci

We use it mainly for our bathroom that has very poor circulation and tends to mold up. In between times in the loo, it works beautifully to steam block my hand knits.

11. Update on Lysol steam cleaner.

I've used it now several times, including on a really disgusting bathroom that the males in the family have been using and were supposed to be cleaning.

It's really good. The steam only is useful because it appears that it must be killing germs. Maybe that's my imagination, but it seems that amount of heat would kill germs. With the Lysol cleaner that it comes with, it cleans and disinfects, but my personal favorite is using 409 Cleaner, instead, along with the steam. The 409 is a great product.

12. OK, you guys convinced me

and I surfed around and decided on the Bissel, a straightforward little machine with a decent sized reservoir and no attachments to fall all over the place.

I got it last night and took it for a test run today. It's a pretty amazing little machine, heats up within 10 seconds and blasts right through the ground in scuzz on my kitchen tile. I'm officially impressed. The scrub brush with the dish soap and Borax worked a little better (of course) but the steam mop is easier on my back, knees and wrists.

Even though it has a filter, they suggest distilled water, something I keep around for the steam iron and car battery, so that's what I used.

I'm convinced. It's well worth the money.
