We only plan to paint the brick on the back of the house and since most of that side of the house is a 30 foot wide window, framed by very dark brown vinyl siding, we're only looking at a brick area of appox a 25 foot width (one story).
We want to get started very soon, since we've just had our backyard re-contoured and drains added. It took the back down about 14 inches. We're adding pavers, which will raise it some The pavers are on order. Before they are laid, we want to get that brick painted all the way down to the dirt, so we won't have to worry about getting paint on the pavers and so the brick is painted down far enough so if the pavers settle an inch or two, we won't have a line of the old brick showing.
Right now the brick is grayish-tan and we're looking at a Gulden's mustard color. Any advice on the preparation of the brick and the best brand of paint, flat or satin, etc?
