Switch to Digital TV question, I now have basic Cable and older

analog TV's. Watched a special broadcast of "This Old House" where they talked about the switch to Digital in February and how to figure out whether you will need a converter box. I know I will be OK with no box because of the Cable but Norm Abrams said that with analog AND the converter box, you would receive more channels. Is this correct or did I not hear it correctly?

As it is now, the channels Comcast gives us with Basic is not worth the electricity it takes to run the TV.

Anybody know of I should get a converter box for a better selection or will Comcast control that too?

1. If you bought the converter box, you could get extra PBS channels off the air

At www.wviz.org , I saw that there is an extra channel of documentaries. The local commercial station(s) have an all-weather station and a few extra feeds.

An antenna would be required.

I am trying to figure out if I will still be able to buy an analog tv that would be "cable tv compatible" in case I want to add an extra tv in the kitchen. I don't want to have to buy an "analog" set top box to receive an analog signal off the CATV cable and turn it back into digital (or HDTV). That would be lame.
