although there is still a lot to do, the plasterers finished today, and they did a nearly perfect job. i have done a lot of work on this old place, but when you walked in my front door, you were in a foyer, and a front room, that had peeling paint, holes in the plaster, and a half dozen old paint jobs. the stairway window was crumbling. they put drywall on the ceilings in 2 rooms, and both stairways, going up and down. they reinforced the walls with a crisscrossing of fiberglass tape, and skim coated the whole thing. they primed it all, and it is shiny, white and beautiful. the new front door is coming next week, which will really make it look like a real house. after my big show this weekend, i am going to take some time to get this stuff finished. stripping and finishing woodwork, finishing out the windows that were completely replaced. got a floor guy coming over tomorrow for a price, and looking at cabinets, and swallowing hard for what i want.
with the economy so hosed up, it feels good to invest in my own bricks and mortar. wouldn't want to sell today, but finally i feel like i can get good craftsmen and decent prices. have been waiting for that bubble to burst for a long time. very happy with the plasterers and the window guys.
:woohoo:
