damn. i'm tired. it looks great, tho. sure am tired of trying to make straight lines. no, i don't use masking tape. any time i have ever used it the paint seeps in and it ends up not only not straight, but a stuck on mess.
painting stairwells is sure big fun!

then it is on to refinishing woodwork. yes, i know i should do that first, but i couldn't wait. i will touch it up when i am done.

1. the key to tape is to take it off before the paint drys

we just got done doing our main living space too, tape and texture, dust and mess, paint YAY~!!

2. I've never had much luck with tape, either

unless I'm using it to mark a straight line when I'm painting stripes. It works OK then. It just doesn't work around doors and windows.

I've discovered the magic of the 2" angled brush. After I had the windows reputtied 2 years ago and the putty cured, I painted them all in about 2 hours, no tape and only a couple of blobs I had to go back and razor blade off.

I guess masking tape works fine in new houses with smooth walls. It just doesn't work in the ancient dumps I've always found myself living in.

3. Here's my trick-

Getcherself a 16 year old daughter. Train her to paint from age 11. Lead her to believe that life begins with TSP.

She's 29 now and has finished painting the interior of her (& husband & baby's) home. Her husband is smart & "doesn't know how to paint".

She hates me, but she has a newly painted home.
