Exterior sconce help needed BAD!
I am installing three exterior sconces to a house that has clapboard-type siding -- the material is one of those cement products that does not warp/rot. My problem is slight vertical angle the siding creates when attaching the sconce -- if attached correclt, there is a large space along the top where the fixture sits away from the siding, if attached so the entire base plate sides flush against the siding, the sconce itself "tilts" slightly up ward.

Hwo do I do this? Do I cut the siding out and place the fixture base against the exterior wall, or put some sort of shim in the top of the ficture then caulk around it? What????

Thanks in advance!

Hell

1. You need a mounting block.
Should be available at most home centers.

3. I bought mounting blocks at DH that are simple octagonal
spacers probably 6" X 8" that are designed to do just the job you need. They were very inexpensive and paint-able. I forget now, but I think you can get them already primed or in natural color. Did the job perfectly.

You attach the plate to the house, then attach the light to the plate.
