Well, actually, it is more like a puddle since the gas line got in the way! After digging the hole, I added some of the extra dirt to the sides to keep water from draining into the "puddle". I lined old newspapers all around the sides and bottom of the hole, then I added my black liner. I have a cement turtle which spits the water being filtered back into the pond. I just added some small goldfish...the ones which are 12 cents each. Add a few green pond plants which help oxygenate the water and provide some hiding places for the fishies. This is next to my carport, which is the way I always enter my home. I have added some baby mondo grass, some hostas and some green and white varigated baby ivy. In the azaleas across the path from this, I have a bird feeder and a bird bath. I call this area my wildlife refuge, and a bullfrog has taken up residence and a garden snake comes to visit every so often.
Of course, I have been surprised by two free running labradors who discovered my puddle and decided to have a dip when I was not watching!
One of my friends keeps telling me that whenever she visits she has the urge to go to the bathroom!
