to do to hook up hot water or why would it not have been hooked up - There does not appear to be a hose for it
no I can not ask the landlord - he just had to replace the air conditioner and is short on patience and money right now

That said, you should be able to switch the supply line under the sink over to the hot side (you don't need both hot and cold) with a few extra couplings(if any). In fact, you might be able to use what is there.
Can you post a pic of what you have goin' on under the sink?

...An older water heater can send little bits into the DW that will cause problems over time.
But heck, if you're renting, go for it. ;)
