My grout is showing white stuff on it. Is that calcium from
the water or the vinegar when I wash them? It's not everywhere, only in certain places, some not traveled much.

I have terra cotta floors just about everywhere with a darker grout.

Is vinegar not a good thing to use (as the contractor said), or is it the water? Any suggestions on how to remove said white stuff?

Thanks!

1. Read up on CLR. It is said to be harmless and will remove
Calcium buildup, soap residue and other unpleasant stuff. Maybe with CLR and an old toothbrush, you can get the job done.

Try using a tile and grout cleaner, it says for tile, or tilex ! There are different products specifically for tile and grout. When I do apartment turn overs, the tile will require some attendance. I hate to clean ! Sometimes I use different products, simple green, tile cleaner,I don't scrub, just spray the stuff all over the tile walls ,floor what have you and let it set ! Maybe 1/2 hour 45 minutes! Than rinse ! You will find it cleans itself! Some areas may require a bit of scrubbing, I use a battery powered scrubby ! Not too often or too much, I hate to clean! When the tile dries after the rinse, it will appear like new ! I know this because Tennant's say so ! By the way, I learned the method from a lady apartment manager who had a masters degree in finding ways around doing any kind of cleaning and making it appear as though hard work was her motto.Very smart lady!

So go shopping fer cleaning stuff at yer local home depot tile department and have fun !

I thought everybody's knows that vinegar is fer french fries !
I am sure that's right, katsup mustard relish onion and tomato on hamburgers and katsup and vinegar on french fries ! Vinegar is not fer tile !
