Plumbing question, advice needed.

The above illustration should help to clarify my issue. The existing situation is that I installed a new, far deeper pair of sinks in the kitchen. The result is that the connection to the waste stack is nearly horizontal. The sinks drain slowly. The bigger issue, however, is when the bathtub upstairs is used. The tub, a pair of sinks, and a toilet all share this stack. Only the tub causes a problem. The drain blurbles and gurgles and glubs as the shower is used or as the tub drains. When the shower is used, the sink can fill with as much as 2" or 3" of water. The sinks are 10" deep and have never even come close to overflowing, but it is damned annoying.

My illustrations show two possible solutions that occurred to me. Will either work? If they can both work, is one of them better?

I have full access to the underfloor area from the basement. The existing stack is cast iron with rubber sleeve connections, so working on it ought to be really easy. All the connections I would need to work on are easily accessible. Yes, I know to tie the stack in place when disconnecting a lower section of it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

By the way, some time ago, in this forum, there was discussion of a web site frequented by professional plumbers who were said to be very knowledgeable and willing to help with answers to questions such as this. Does anyone know the site name?

Also, Terry Love's site is great for plumbing AND other things like electrical.

I would try the first site for a quicker answer.

Btw, how did you do those nifty drawings?

2. Thanks for the links!
I posted on the first one.

I use CAD in my work so it was the easiest way for me to communicate my issues.

3. I wonder if plumbing codes come to mind ?

What does code say clown? If I didn't know ,I would get a book. If I didn't have time I would take solution one and two to a plumbing supply outfit and present the problem as you did in yer drawings.I would imagine if you disconnected the sink drain the other drains would drain normal. Lowering the stub out would seem the most logical way to go. Add studer valve which allows air in and nothing out may help.Either method would seem to work but that can be dependent upon the parts you use to make those connections. A consult at your local plumbing supply where you cay buy those parts ,those people will send you back with the perfect solution and the parts to do it with. Did you ever snake out the plumbing stack?Assuming it's not new construction.

Myself I go into my books when there is uncertainty. That and check the codes.
