Blogging Platforms
I would like to create something like a gadget blog, sort of like Gizmodo or Lifehacker and maybe use it to drive traffic to my business. I am a software developer but I don't know the first thing about blogging. Would it be better to use a server that already exists? Or would it be better to create my own server?

The advantage of using a pre-existing server is that I don't have to worry about programming, but the advantage of using my own server is that I can design it however I like.

I use Asp.Net (MS). I know most things are done with Linux these days. So it makes it tougher.

Anyway, whether it's my own server, or someone else's, does anyone have any recommendations?

1. I probably shouldn't even jump in since I'm probably missing your point...
lolol

I am not a technie but I have, however, created quite a few blogs for people, to drive traffic to their business sites.

Using blogger or Livejournal or Wordpress seems to definitely be preferable simply because of the "stumble upon" traffic they generate due to their network, easily ability to generate RSS feeds and other readily available tools, etc. You could even create a widget OF your blog via widgetbox or something. :)

Is that what you mean by server: Blogger, etc.?

You can actually customize the look quite substantially nowadays since you have access to the css stylesheet.

Hope that helps. :)

2. Thanks
Since it was like a month before anyone replied, I ended up going with Blogspot. I have done tons of programming but never actually created a blog before. I see how it works now. Thanks again!
