2. interesting...
I'll be brave and post my result:

I'm white and I scored "Your data suggest a strong automatic preference for White American compared to Black American."

That really surprised me. I tend to be attracted to and date mostly men of other races than white, and I don't consider myself prejudiced (although I don't doubt some effect of social conditioning). My first thought was that I didn't start questioning racism until I was in my mid teens. Since then, I have made extra effort to seek experiences outside of typical white experience, for example, movies, concerts, seminars, classes, etc that deal with other cultures. Similarly, I didn't question homophobia until my later teens either, and I do things to support their rights too. I always felt that I like to step outside of the zone of what things relate directly to ME and understand and participate in things that relate to people of other ethnicities, backgrounds, etc.

So, I can see myself having learned negative racial preferences as a child, which may be very ingrained, and show up in a test like this, whereas I don't feel I would actually act on those impulses in real life. Nevertheless, it's something to think about, to make sure I don't fall into that trap.

From the FAQ on the test site:

What can I do about an automatic preference that I would rather not have?
Answer: First, bear in mind that these website IAT tests are not perfectly accurate. You may want to repeat the test before drawing even a tentative conclusion of this sort. On the other hand, it is very possible to possess an automatic preference that you would rather not have (and the researchers who developed this test are convinced that they, too, fall into this category). One solution is to seek experiences that could undo or reverse the patterns of experience that could have created the unwanted preference. But this is not always easy to do. A more practical alternative may be to remain alert to the existence of the undesired preference, recognizing that it may intrude in unwanted fashion into your judgments and actions. Additionally, you may decide to embark on consciously planned actions that can compensate for known unconscious preferences and beliefs.

Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for African American compared to European American.

I have not read the analysis of the results yet...but I was REALLY surprised, since I got two wrong after they changed the i vs e. Very interesting!

On Edit...now I see..it was not the 'mistakes'..but rather the amount of time equating the good words and the blacks faces...

The interpretation shown above is described as 'automatic preference for Black' if you responded faster when Black faces and Good words were classified with the same key as opposed to White faces and Good words. It is marked 'automatic preference for White' if you were faster when giving the same response to White faces and Good words. Depending on the magnitude of your result, your automatic preference may be described as 'slight', 'moderate', 'strong', or 'little to no preference'.
