She had the two stars on from the new movie, Something New.

It was pretty good, although my wife and I were put off a little by all the "stereotyping" going on even by Oprah herself.

In any case, it was great to see so many interracial couples interviewed. We laughed about many of the circumstances the other couples talked about as we had experienced them ourselves.

1. Hi Jeffrey--
How was it?

Oprah works my last nerve, so I haven't watched her in a while. I avoid her like the plague unless I know there she is featuring something I really want to see. I would have tuned in had I known she was doing such a show. Though, I hear you on her stereotyping...she's embarassing when she addresses our issues. My husband and I get really peeved with her the few times we've seen her attempt to address the issue.

:hi:

2. She really played up the movie quite a bit...
but it was good to see her shed some light on the growing trend of AA female/white male marriages and relationships.

3. Did you or your wife see the movie...?
...I might attempt it when it makes it to video. I usually don't see movies like that, if it seems it's going to be treated like some 'fad' or 'oddity' as opposed to two people that care about one another and fell in love.

Did either of your in-laws give you problems? My side of the family was ok, his side were closet bigots. LOL! Not all--just most. He has an aunt and uncle that are very dear to us. :hi:

4. How ironic...
that Oprah was promoting this movie, yet we couldn't find a theatre in Chicago that was play it.

We wanted to go see it to support the general theme of the movie.

Neither in-laws have given us any problems. Certain parts of my family are from small town Indiana, so we don't go back there much and we've really distanced ourselves from that side of the family.

I get a long great with her mom and the her side of the family.

5. That is odd--
you'd think Oprah would have had a clue about that. When I lived there, one of my favorite theaters was Water Tower, oh and the one below 900 N. Michigan. I worked in that building, so it was cool to get off work and see a movie.

Glad you don't have much family trouble. That can make things frustrating. We distanced ourselves from difficult members, too. :hi:

6. Only in 1 theatre in Atlanta
 I would've thought that it would be on more than just one.
