LONDON - A mixed-race British couple has defied the odds - twice - by producing two sets of twins in which one sibling appears to be black and the other white.

Dean Durrant's newborn daughter Miya has dark skin like him. Twin sister Leah has fair skin like her blue-eyed, red-haired mother, Alison Spooner.

Their older siblings Lauren and Hayleigh, born in 2001, also have strikingly different skin tones and eye colors.

Is it just me? Do you think this is a ridiculous story? With ridiculous comments by "experts". What color do they think interracial children are? All the same? Exactly half-way in between? Pin-stripes? :shrug:

1. There is nothing remarkable about this, other than the fact they had two sets of fraternal twins.

I'd like to see pictures, because I truly doubt that one twin looks white, and one black, they most likely look biracial and have lighter and darker skin tones, and some mix of the feature of both father and mother.

5. They actually both look biracial to me.

and in the other photo in the article, with mom and dad, they look more alike.

edit to add: I know biracial kids that are lighter and darker than either of these girls.

...less than aware. ;)

If they bothered to look at people w/in any racial group, there are frequently variations in coloring among them. For example, African Americans or blacks. Black people are a rainbow of variable tones, shades, colorings and hues. From pale pigments (i.e. almost white, beige, olive or a variation of hues mentioned) to brown (i.e. tan, sienna, umber, etc) to black (ebony). I've seen the same in caucasian families, latino families and other ethnic groups as well.

Only those unaware of what I discuss, would consider the above incident remarkable and the article about it some sort of revelation.
