or the powers that be ...would grant me permission to use the "Progressive People of Faith" name for a meetup I am organizing in my community?

Or you DUers could let me know that you didn't mind me using that term with reference to my group.

I would appreciate it.

You see, I think my community needs a balance to the Religious Right ... the Religious Liberal (or Progressive).

So, I set a meetup date with a few friends ... and we are getting it together, with an initial meetup at the local Tony Romas.

Moving on!

I'm a Religious Scientist (www.rsintl.org - a progressive faith), and I have so far invited Unitarian-Universalists, and United Church of Christ members. I'm working on the others.

Let me know waht you think.

What do I mean? Well, I want people of faith who share certain progressive values: who are pro-human-rights, want all committed adult couples to experience the equal protection of the law, and who believe in preservation of reproductive rights, among other things. That's who we are inviting to the meetup.

2. You know me, Rev. - quite the little activist in my 40's.

I think I'm going either through: (a) a spiritual renewal, or (b) a mid-life crisis (that isn't a crisis, more of an adjustment for my husband).

We're down here in the Temecula/Murrieta area in Southern Cal - inland, just about an hour north of San Diego.

Very conservative area - but we're changing that (I'm pretty involved in DFA).

"It ain't copyrighted."...It is a great moniker, and one more people need to think about.

I think groups like the one you want to put together are just the thing to point out to people that we liberals are NOT the evil, godless heretics the right wants them to believe we are.
