Poll on merging this group with S.O.U.P. Group
All,

There has been some discussion on whether the Christian Liberals/Progressive People of Faith Group should be merged with the Seekers on Unique Paths Group.

Skinner gave me permission to post here about a poll I started on this issue. If you'd like to vote, please go here:

Thanks :hi:

1. I mainly lurk here, but
isn't there a good reason the first word of this group is "Christian"?

3. I would welcome them in here
provided our faith as Christians was well respected - we get enough anti-Christian challenges elsewhere. I like this haven, this refuge.

4. I fail to see why it is necessary...

If people from that group want to come here, fine. If people here want to become regulars there, fine. But I don't see why the premise for this group should be changed by having it "de-Christianized."

5. Up to them
but we do have "Christian" in the title.

6. I think the "Christian" part of our name and character...
...is important to maintain as a witness against the other who are claiming their reactionary politics are "Christian". We liberal Christians are often chided for not "taking back" the Christian name from the wingnuts, so I'd like to see it retained here.

9. I agree. I think there is nothing wrong with claiming the name Christian
I welcome talks with other faith groups on DU, but I do like to have a specifically Christian group as well. :^)

I would welcome others' participation here, but I believe that 'Christian' is part of this group's essential identity.

8. I'm with the others.
I would welcome anyone's participation here, but "Christian" is part of my religious self-identity, and I am one who also likes this haven.

10. I'm opposed (though it looks like that's the conclusion anyway)

It would a.) lose the Christian identity, and b.) promote the idea of there being 2 groups: "Atheists" and "freaks who believe in stuff"
