Care to label yourself?
I posted this on another site (not the one where I went fundy-baiting).

Thought we might give it a go here. :)

http://www.christianforums.com/t1989789-care-to-label-yourself.html

Thinking about the words liberal, conservative, and moderate both poilitically and theologically led me to putting up this post.

Politically: I come in to the south and west of Gandhi here: http://poltiticalcompass.org/

Theologically, I come in as a Unitarian Universalist here: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

and here http://beliefnet.com/section/quiz/index.asp?sectionID=10002&surveyID=83 I am a 150 - 249
You are a Hillary Rodham Clinton Christian (a.k.a. "Left-Leaning Traditionalist") although to be honest I didn't think much of this particular quiz.

There are other quizzes around if you are interested in them: http://timeforachange.bluelemur.com/liberalchristians.htm#quizzes

2. Here are my results
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 05:20 PM by Heaven and Earth
Political Compass
Economic Left/Right: -3.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.13

Belief-O-Matic Top Ten
1. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%)
2. Orthodox Quaker (84%)
3. Liberal Quakers (82%)
4. Unitarian Universalism (78%)
5. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (70%)
6. Reform Judaism (65%)
7. Eastern Orthodox (63%)
8. Roman Catholic (63%)
9. Seventh Day Adventist (63%)
10. Neo-Pagan (54%)

What kind of Christian are you?
You scored 264, on a scale of 0 to 400:
250 - 329 You are a George Bush Sr. Christian (a.k.a. "Right-Leaning Traditionalist").

What is your spiritual type?
You scored 75, on a scale of 25 to 100:
70 - 79 Questioning Believer; You have doubts about the particulars but not the Big Stuff

So to sum up:

Politically, I am reliably liberal (although they didn't ask about debt and deficits, or I would have come out more conservative.)

Theologically, I am moderate, a blend of tradition and modern critique. My beliefs are based on the Bible, but I am not a fan of Bibliotry (making an idol of the Bible by treating it as absolute). Who was it who said that the Bible is valuable because it is the cradle of Christ? I agree with that person. The other things in it, the parts that don't have to do with Jesus or his position and mission in history, don't have to be 100% material fact, nor should most of the cultural norms contained in the Old Testament be considered the final authority.

5. And here are my religion results.
It surprised me that I'm 66% in agreement with conservative Christianity, but I'm happy that I'm 100% in agreement with liberal Christianity. :-) Also, I'm not surprised that I'm 58% in agreement with Buddhism: I consider myself philosophicaly Buddhist, which in my opinion is compatible with being both theologically and philosophically Christian.
