Your Prayers & Good Thoughts Would Be Appreciated
Had my first mammogram yesterday. They called me today, and want me to come back for a more detailed picture, and maybe an ultrasound if needed. I asked what the problem was, and asked how concerend they were. She said it looked like it could be a cyst, and that it wasn't an emergency. There is no history of breast cancer in our family, and I have never smoked, so I'm hoping for the best. I go back Thuesday morning (1-3-06)
Hoping and praying for the best. You guys always help me feel better.

2. I've been there, Dinger
I've had a surgical biopsy and a needle biopsy (five years apart). They were cysts both times.

Prayers on order.

3. I was called back after my first one, too.
I was a nervous wreck, in tears, and all alone. But the tech doing the retake told me that it was not unusual at all for them to ask you to come back. Once you have your base line established, then they can determine what "normal" looks like for you. And she was right... the retake showed nothing suspicious...just funky breast tissue.

I will pray that yours goes as smoothly, Ding.

8. Update - Sort Of
I posted this in the Lounge:

Not sure if I feel better or not. Had another mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist said he thought it was a cyst, and probably liquid. He said I could come back in 6 months for a follow up, or I could have the fluid taken out, so I said I did. I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow, and the procedure done on Thursday. Since the cyst isn't clear in all areas. it might be hard to aspirate, and if that's the case, they'll do a needle biopsy. I guess I'm a little encouraged because the doctor told me I could come back in 6 months, but I won't breathe a real sigh of relief till I know for 100% sure what is up. From what I saw, the cyst is rounded clearly, and they seemed to think that was good. I hope they can get the fluid out right away - I know that'll be a good sign. It has an 80-99+% change of being "good," so I guess I'll go with that for now. It's just that I've been bothered by this for almost a week already. Thanks for all of your support. I'm hoping and praying for the best.

14. I had a big cyst one time and didn't do anything at all.
It just went away by itself. It showed up on sonogram and no one suggested that I do anything so I didn't.

11. Oh, Geeze, Dinger
I had a change in my mammogram about 10 years ago and had to get a biopsy done. I was scared half to death. I understand completely what you're going through.

Everything turned out okay for me, and probably will for you, too. PM me if you need to talk to someone who's been there and done that.

Mrs. V.

12. Just Talked To The Doctor - Good News!
She said the lumps were not cancerous or precancerous, and that women my age who have not reached menopause and have been on the pill/hormones, etc., typically get things like these. I am so thankful for your prayers and thoughts! Posted something about this in the Lounge too. Just gonna kick back tonight, get inot my Packer jammies, have a fire in the firplace, watch "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington," while lettin' 'er rip on DU! Ahhhh!

LOVE AND MY BEST TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I'll dig up that pic of me and Liberace and post it. It'll be a couple of days, but I'll do as promised.
