Our church's sermon on Martin Luther King's birthday
"The Beloved Community," by The Reverend Peter Strimer, the Diocese of Olympia
St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle
January 15, 2006

http://saintmarks.org/Sermons%20Etc/2006/Strimer011506.pdf

snip about Dr. King's views on the Vietnam War: "It should be incandescently clear that no one who has any concern for the integrity of life and the integrity of America today can ignore the present war. If America's soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the autopsy will read ‘Vietnam.’ It can never be saved so long as it destroys the deepest hopes of men and women the world over. So it is that we are led down the path of protest and dissent working for the health of our land."

1. That was powerful, and well worth the read.
If it's about building the "Beloved Community," how do we go about that? How are our churches taking a stand? And, where are we failing?
