Michael Dowd is a UCC minister who calls himself a evolutionary theologian. This is the synopsis of his beliefs:
Evolutionary Christianity (EC) is an integral vision of the Christian faith that honors biblical and traditional understandings, conservative and liberal, while enthusiastically embracing an evolutionary worldview. A passionate and unabashedly all-embracing, ecological, deep-time honoring, and prophetic/evangelistic celebration of the Christian tradition that honors Roman Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical, Orthodox, Anabaptist, Universalist, and New Thought expressions, Evolutionary Christianity sees the entire history of Cosmos and emergent complexity of matter, life, consciousness, culture, and technology in a sacred, God-glorifying way.
I saw him and his wife,
Connie Barlow, at a UU minister's retreat. She is totally UU, but he is really, truly Christian. I found his arguents persuasive, and his manner was was downright evangelical in the way fundie TV preachers are. Except his evangelism tied Christian faith and deep ecology in a way I've never encountered before, in a positive direction, combining faith and reason beautifully. He spoke to my inner Universalist Christian.
