I got a call at school this morrning. The secretary said that a local clinic was on the line. Apparently my dad was having chest pains last night (He didn'tcall me), and though he seemed better today, he did call there. He didn't want them to "bother" me at work, but eventually agreed. I talked tohim & he seemed o.k., but I wanted him to go to the hospital in an ambulance. Anyway, I had to get some sub plans together FAST. My school is wonderful, & the guidance counselor was kind enough to come to my room right away, so I could go, which I did. I endedup taking dad to the hospital. My brother lives in Denver (I live in northern Wisconson), & my two sisters live in Milwaukee. Mom & Dad divorced longago, but I informed Mom of what was going on. It's hard being the only "child", and responsible for both parents, who I love very much. Dad had a chest x-ray, CAT scan, & bloodwork done, and they came out "o.k." However, when he had a stress test, he only lasted one minute. They did a "cath" on him, and he had signifigant blockage in is coronary artery, so they put a stent in there. I guess his other arteries seemed to be doing o.k. Sis came up from Milwaukee with her boyfriend, and my hubby came after work, but most of the day I was alone with Dad, and the weigh of the responsibility was heavy, but it was my Dad, so it was fine with me. My cousin happens to be President & COO of the hospital, so I called her office, & she came down & spent several hours with us. I have not had much contact with her over the years, but she was simply wonderful. I asked her to inform Dad's sisters & brothers (Her dad is my Dad's brother). Anyway, I am home & it is midnight of a day that started at 5:30 a.m. I am thankful that this was done on time,or sort of. I really was scared that things would be much worse. Dad is supposed to come home tomorrow. I am getting up at 4:30, so I can goto school and make decent plans for the sub (& for the kids) I will pick Dad up some time tomorrow morning, and he will probably stay a few days with us. We only live 4 miles from him. Anyway, I just thought I'd ask for any good wishes or prayers from you would be very much appreciated.
