So, what did you do for Maundy/Holy Thursday?
We did a Seder, one of those that pauses at points to say things like "This is probably where Jesus washed the disciples' feet"; "this is probably what it means by 'after they had sung a song'", etc. Third year we've done it. I didn't think they'd want to do it again this year, but my deacons voted to. And during the meal tonight, they were talking about how they'd do it next year--"I like this charoseth recipe. I think we should make both recipes next year, we should make lamb stew next year", like that. Huh. Who'd a thunk. I figured a Tenebrae or something next year.

So, a nice evening. You?

1. I'm glad you had a nice Seder, Critters.

Sounds like you had a very nice service.

THAT is what Maundy Thursday is about- the Last Supper/Seder
for Passover.

Unfortunately, my son was ill last night so I stayed home with him.
We did talk about the Last Supper and how it influenced our Communion.

So all in all, we had a quiet evening.

:hi:

3. What a great tradition to keep up!.
Unfortunately, lifeclutter problems like car troubles have meant not getting to some of the church services etc. that I wanted to attend.

However, as a Lenten project I _finally_ started a story that's been nibbling on my mind for quite a while. It's my own take on Mary Magdalen's experience at the cross and after.
The story's far from being completed, but now that I've jumped in I hope the momentum will stay with me. Tonight and tomorrow I'm planning to work on it.

4. It was the first night of the cathedral choir marathon
A regular Eucharist, optional foot washing, and stripping of the altar as the choir plain-chanted the first half of Psalm 22.

Three anthems: "Christus Factus Est" by Bruckner, "Ubi Caritas" by Duruflé, and "Tantum Ergo" by Sevignac.

Believe it or not, the service was in English. :-)
