Geza Vermes. The majority of his writings have been about Jesus. i have read most of them and wonder what people think about him. the last four i like, especially "The Authentic Gospel of Jesus" and "The Changing Faces of Jesus. "The passion" is also a very good book. "The authentic gospel of Jesus" i think is a phenomenal work. his scholarship saves the person, thought, and actions of Jesus from the likes of the Jesus Seminar group. the Jesus of "gospel" emerges as a real person, loyal as he was to his Jewish understanding of God and the Torah. This is not the Jesus from the gospel of John. his book "the passion" ends up arguing for the historical accuracy of the synoptic descriptions of the last days. as
i like to say, for me, Geza Vermes gets Jesus into the tomb, N.T wright and Gary Habermas get him out. Vermes did write a book about the resurrection, but it should be obvious from the last two names i mentioned, i do not argue with his conclusion in that book.

anyway, enough blattering.....anybody familiar with Geza Vermes' writing.....

2. Yeah, I've read most of his works.
I like him, but should re-read him, to see how I feel now that I've become a Girardian.
