Anyone here interested in "open theism?"
(Cross posted from the religion/theology forum. A DUer messaged me that this post might get a more sympathetic response here.)

It basically gives a solid theological basis for contending/believing that prayer is effective. God works WITH humans; He has not predetermined from the beginning everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen.

This theological concept/belief is driving fundamentalist Christians crazy. (For some here at DU, that fact alone might be a reason to look into open theism.)

From www.opentheism.info : (At the web site many of the articles are linked and can be read online.)

1. I've read a bit about this, in the Christian Century. I know it's quite
controversial in Evangelical circles. I've done a little reading, but not much. It sounds as if it's influenced by Process Theology, or at least seems to be coming to some similar conclusions. I'll read some of the resources you list. I have friends who know Greg Boyd, and I've been impressed with him. Not really familiar with the others listed.

Thanks for bringing this up! I know it's being widely discussed among Evangelicals.

Welcome to the Progressive Christian group!

I find it interesting that a discussion of theology can't find a sympathetic hearing in the Religion/THEOLOGY forum. :banghead:
