A lot of Christians are praying today for famous atheist writer Christopher Hitchens (Cancer)
"I say it's fine by me, I think of it as a nice gesture. And it may well make them feel better, which is a good thing in itself," says Hitchens.

I support everyone's right to be believe or not believe in a higher power. I saw this on the news, that today is the day many are doing it, and I fully support prayer for anyone going through such a horrible battle. He has throat cancer, the same thing that killed his father.

This thread is posted in the Christian liberals thread out of compassion for him, and may good vibes be felt from those who pray for him, as I was surprised to hear his response to the prayers, even if he doesn't believe they're being heard.

1. He does seem to have softened his tone about prayer, now that
people have said they're praying for him. I hope he doesn't suffer too much. Throat cancer can be awful. I've lost 2 parishioners to it.

3. Well, the saying is false
but Hitchens has never been ill disposed towards kindness and generosity, regardless of who it comes from.

5. My uncle fought in two wars and thats what he told me. I guess thats
what you'd call first hand information. I meant no ill will towards Hitchens. I still wish him well.

6. I bear him no ill will
I'd pray for him as I would for anyone. I hope he has an easy passing.
